My Process

Rebuilding Your Relationship With Food

  • We start with safety — You’ll never be rushed, judged, or pushed into a plan that doesn’t feel right.

  • We explore your food story — Together, we unpack the beliefs, patterns, and emotions that shape your eating experience.

  • We honor your autonomy — I’m here to guide, not dictate. You remain in charge of your pace and your process.

  • We integrate nutrition — Science meets compassion in a way that supports your recovery, clarity, and long-term health.

  • We celebrate your identity — Your culture, gender, race, and lived experience are central to how we approach healing.

Registered dietitian Lisa Rostek providing compassionate, trauma‑informed nutrition counseling

I’m Lisa Rostek

MS, RDN, LD, IEDS

Hi, I’m Lisa — founder of My Food Therapy and a registered dietitian nutritionist. I believe in blending science with compassion to help you build a balanced relationship with food, body, and health.

I grew up on a farm in rural South Dakota, where food meant community, connection, and care. I started in nursing school, detoured into a decade of massage therapy, and discovered my greatest strength was building genuine relationships. Nutrition became the natural next step — a way to integrate science, compassion, and connection into every session.

Why Work With Me

  • Decades of healing experience — From nursing to massage therapy to nutrition, I’ve spent my career helping people reconnect with their bodies in ways that feel safe and supportive.

  • Rooted in HAES® and inclusive care — I meet you where you are, without judgment, shame, or diet culture.

  • Relationship-centered nutrition — Healing starts with connection. Every session is built on trust, not trends.

  • Inclusive Eating Disorder Specialist (IEDS) — A trauma-informed, identity-affirming approach that supports adults of all backgrounds, identities, and body sizes.

  • Practical, personalized support — No one-size-fits-all plans. We co-create goals that feel doable, sustainable, and aligned with your real life.

  • Compassionate, individualized guidance — Nutrition counseling helps adults build steadier, more sustainable patterns with food, appetite, and health — without shame, overwhelm, or perfectionism.

“She has helped me set realistic and attainable goals. She genuinely cares and listens.”

My Values

Trauma-Informed Care

Your nervous system matters. I approach nutrition work with an understanding of safety, pacing, and the ways stress, trauma, and lived experience shape eating patterns.

Collaboration Over Control

Nutrition support should never feel prescriptive or top-down. We make decisions together, honoring your autonomy and your real life.

A Non-Diet, Weight-Inclusive Lens

I don’t use shame, fear, or rigid rules. My work centers on clarity, consistency, and supportive patterns — not restriction.
